The purpose of this list is to discuss the definition
of a term linked to
microinsurance and/or social protection in general.
At this moment we would like to use the following definition of the
term 'Cash
transfers':
This is a general definition of cash transfers, but besides that, there are other questions that can be subject for debate:
* Are cash transfers an appropriate tool for the extension of social security?
* What role do we see for Cash transfers in the context of affordability of Social protection for low-income countries?

After closing the discussion list, the new or revised definition will be added to the Glossary.
Cash transfers are defined as regular non-contributory payments of
money provided by government or non-government organizations to
individuals or households (generally the women), with the objective of
decreasing chronic or shock-induced poverty, addressing social risks
and reducing economic vulnerability.
